PRESS RELEASE

MONTREAL, QC and Plattsburgh, NY – Sept 19, 2016 – Insum Solutions, Corp., opened its office on the second floor of Redcay Hall at SUNY Plattsburgh on May 31. Founded in 2002 by Michel St-Amour, Francis Mignault and Patrick Bonneville in Montreal, Canada, the parent corporation currently has 55 employees, and its subsidiary has 14 employees based in nine different states (Texas, Arizona, Utah, Florida, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Carolina, Ohio, New-York).

Insum relocated its U.S. operations from South Burlington, Vt., to Plattsburgh. It will create 16 net new jobs over the next five years and establish student learning and internship opportunities at the Plattsburgh campus as part of the START-UP NY program.

Insum provides North American clients with professional services in the development of Oracle applications. The company assist clients in developing efficient and secure web applications by using Oracle Application Express (“APEX”), a free developmental tool produced and supported by Oracle and included in the Oracle database.

Considered a pioneer in Quebec in the development and use of APEX technologies, the company has secured over 500 contracts since it began operations. Its clients include Air Transat, Bell Helicopter, Essilor, Carnival Cruises, Princess Cruises, Ohio State, Navigant, and much more. Additionally, Insum has trained approximately 250 people in APEX technologies throughout North America.

Michel St-Amour, president of Insum, said the company is teaming up with SUNY Plattsburgh because it believes the availability of a skilled labor force with a good technical background is beneficial for the company’s growth in the U.S.

St-Amour said, “Seventy percent of our business is with U.S.-based companies, and we forecast that to grow even more. The strategy behind our New York state expansion in Plattsburgh is closely related to our ability to replicate the success we have in our Montreal development center. We create new IT positions and give graduates the opportunity to find a job locally. We train them on the Oracle Apex technology, coach them on how to analyze and develop using best practices, and supervise them closely to assure high quality deliverables.”

The strategy behind Insum’s expansion and participation in the START-UP NY program is closely related to the company’s working relationship with the Computer Science Department at SUNY Plattsburgh, said Keith Tyo, START-UP NY campus coordinator at SUNY Plattsburgh.

“Through internship opportunities in Oracle Application Express, students will gain additional expertise at the business level developing desktop and mobile web apps, visualizing and maintaining database data and leveraging their SQL skills and database capabilities. Insum will also provide students the opportunity to participate in techno-scrums and techno-lunches, access to Oracle experts, advocates and authors of books on Apex. Students will benefit from these additional opportunities afforded them due to Insum’s desire to collaborate with SUNY Plattsburgh.”

Company representatives will also be available to lecture in the classroom and plan to sponsor an annual conference for students on Oracle technology and various other events. He added, “Insum expects to hire three-to-five graduates annually for full-time jobs. Creating jobs and filling them with graduating students will provide some students with immediate employment.”
